Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 September 2026.
This notice explains how information is handled when you read BestCarsNews, make an analytics choice, or email the site. It also explains Google AdSense and advertising cookies before advertising is enabled. For a question about this notice or information you have sent, use the contact details below.
Your choices at a glance
- You can read the site without accepting optional analytics.
- The cookie message offers Accept analytics and Reject analytics. These choices concern audience measurement, not consent to advertising.
- Use the Change analytics cookie choice button at the end of this page to reopen the message and change your selection.
- A browser setting can remove cookies and other site data. This does not erase information already received by a server or an email recipient.
Information needed to deliver a page
Opening a webpage sends a request to the systems delivering it. That request can include your IP address, the page or file address, browser information and a referring page. Delivery logs can also record the time, response status and size of the response. This information helps deliver files, investigate failed requests and manage site availability.
Page addresses can contain search terms or other query information. Avoid placing sensitive personal details in a search field or URL. An external site or resource may receive a referring address when your browser requests it.
Published article text and public listings are served from the approved local catalog. Some theme files and images are retrieved from a separate asset source, currently carobjective.com. The delivery server sends that source the requested asset address and a server-selected browser identifier; this asset proxy does not forward your browsing cookies or pass source response cookies to your browser. Asset delivery is separate from the optional Google Analytics choice described below.
If a page loads an external image, video, font or other resource, the provider receives the technical information needed for that request. A link and an embedded resource work differently: clicking a link takes you to another site, while an embedded resource can be requested as part of viewing a page.
Cookies, local storage and the saved choice
A cookie is information a website stores in a browser and can receive on later requests. Local storage is another way to keep information in that browser. BestCarsNews uses local storage to remember your analytics selection and when you made it. The stored choice is used for up to 180 days, after which the message can ask again.
The preference record is stored under the name bcn-analytics-v1. It is a choice record, not an advertising profile. The record may remain in browser storage until you replace the choice or clear the site's data; the 180-day limit determines how long the site treats the selection as current.
Choices apply to the browser and site address where they were made. A different browser, device or site address may not have that record. If storage is blocked, the site may be unable to remember the selection. Clearing site data also removes the saved choice.
Optional Google Analytics
Google Analytics 4 can help show which pages people read and how they reach and use the site. It is not configured in the current version of BestCarsNews. If enabled, this site's Analytics tag loads only after you choose Accept analytics or return with an accepted choice that is still current.
When it runs, measurement may include page addresses, referral information, browser and device characteristics, approximate geographic information and interactions enabled in the Analytics settings. Google Analytics can use first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier to distinguish visitors and sessions. Google explains their operation in its Analytics cookie documentation.
The site's Analytics configuration disables Google signals and advertising-personalisation signals and does not grant advertising consent. Google describes its wider handling of Analytics information in Safeguarding your data. Its information for visitors to partner websites explains information sent when sites use Google services.
Rejecting analytics before the tag loads keeps this site's optional Analytics tag from loading. If you previously accepted, changing to Reject analytics switches off Analytics measurement for this browser and attempts to remove accessible Analytics cookies for the site. Browser controls can remove remaining site data. Changing a choice does not undo information already transmitted.
You can also review Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers. That add-on concerns Analytics; it does not remove website delivery logs or control every external resource.
Google AdSense and advertising cookies
Google AdSense is not enabled in the current version of this site. The following explains the data use that can accompany AdSense if it is introduced. Enabling advertisements requires the relevant advertising disclosures and choices; accepting the present analytics message does not provide consent for advertising.
When Google ads are served, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to select ads based on earlier visits to BestCarsNews or other websites. Google's advertising cookies can enable Google and its partners to personalise ads using that browsing activity. Ads can also involve identifiers and technical information used for delivery, reporting, limiting repetition and detecting fraud or invalid activity.
Personalised and non-personalised advertising are different choices, but non-personalised ads do not necessarily mean that no cookies or data processing are involved. See Google's advertising explanation and its cookie information.
You can manage Google's ad personalisation through Google Ad Settings. Turning off personalisation does not remove all ads. If additional vendors are enabled, the advertising notice must identify the participating providers and link to their information and available choices. The analytics buttons on this page do not offer those vendor-specific advertising controls.
Messages you send
Email correspondence can include your address, your name if supplied, the message, attachments and related technical information. It is used to understand the enquiry and handle the conversation. The email services involved also process the message. Use the Contact page to see what to include in a correction, rights enquiry or website problem report.
Send only what is necessary. An article address and a description of the issue are usually a better starting point than identity documents or vehicle-registration paperwork. Do not send passwords, payment-card information, access tokens or sensitive documents in an initial enquiry.
Providers and external websites
Website delivery, the separate asset source, email correspondence and any enabled Google service involve different recipients and systems. Their information practices are not all controlled by the analytics preference. Google describes its processing locations and safeguards in its Privacy Policy.
Following a manufacturer, retailer, advertiser or other external link puts you on that provider's website. Its notice applies to information you give it, including a purchase or form submission. Review that site's practices before sharing personal details.
Retention and removing information
The 180-day analytics-choice period is not a deletion deadline for delivery logs, email correspondence or information held by Google. Those records are handled separately by the services involved. Browser controls remove browser-held information; they do not automatically remove a copy held elsewhere.
For a question about the information associated with a particular message or visit, contact BestCarsNews and describe the interaction and approximate date. You can ask what information is held, how it is used, how long it is retained, or whether it can be corrected or deleted. Avoid including more personal information than is needed to locate the matter.
Privacy requests and changes to this notice
Your rights depend on the law and circumstances that apply. They may include access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or an objection to processing. Where processing depends on your consent, you can withdraw that choice. For this site's optional Analytics, use the button at the end of this page; for a message or another privacy request, use the email address above.
Some requests may need proportionate verification before personal information can be disclosed or changed. You may also have the right to raise a concern with the data-protection authority responsible for your location. This notice does not select a legal jurisdiction or limit rights that apply to you.
The revision date identifies this version. This notice and the relevant choices should be updated when services or data practices change, including before enabling advertising.
